Pet Sitting -- Meet Max ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ + Thrifting Find

I am dogsitting Max for the first time. Missy died recently and Max is the new dog in town. I am enjoying him and he's enjoying being at my house. He's behaving wonderfully and his owner won't believe it. At his home he is a one-dog demolition crew and chews everything he can get his teeth around. All because he's bored. I have given him lots of attention and we have been on countless walks. I have things on all surfaces but he hasn't tried to chew one thing! He likes having the tv on nonstop too.

Another pose.

He has been ravenous too because of all the walks. He is a Pincher mix and is a small/medium size under 40 pounds. He's very strong too and I am determined to teach him how to walk on a relaxed leash. I think he is part dachshund according to the adoption place but who knows. He never barks and I like that. I have only heard him once. I put him in his crate in order to be able to write this post. He doesn't mind because he has one in his owner's truck and home. I will put him in again for overnight.

Thrifting find yesterday: An art pottery dish by Margaret Wozniak signed and dated 2007. Size 9" x 8-1/2" has hanging wire on back too. ($7.00)
Stamped with her seal.

The back.

One of her series called Greater Angels.

I love it and found out more about the artist on her website.

She has an Etsy shop too. Here.
Don't you love her work?

Wish me luck with Max for the next few days.

Dog Earing Cookies, So Cute๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ♡๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ

I have saved this screenshot on my computer for the longest time. Try as I may and try as I might I cannot find the original source. I have tried Google Lens to no avail. Anyway, I love it and think it's adorable.

Are you enjoying October? Are the giant Halloween skeletons that have cropped up everywhere in my area in yours too? I have a feeling they will remain into the Christmas season wearing Santa hats but I hope not.

See you again soon. xo, Rosemary
UPDATE: Tasha T to the rescue.

Dog Toy in Washing Machine

I was cleaning my desktop of all the screenshot I have saved recently and ran across this one I hadn't shared. Here's your Saturday smile. His face says volumes as he sits, waiting for the buzzer. Will his owner hang his  bunny outside or put it in the dryer? Poor dog♡๐Ÿ˜‚ Have a great weekend. xo

Bundle Up: It's COLD Outside๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ

This adorable photo made me smile.
I woke up to 10° this morning.
There is bright sun though.
I hung my Roman Shades myself yesterday.
I have them all the way down.
The sun is blasting through and I have no glare.
I will post photos later.
I can't get a decent photo yet.
Have a great Sunday.

A Curious Dog in Mother Goose Rhymes

Missy hasn't been doing any of these strange things. I thought this dog looked like her breed though. So far, we are having a quiet Sunday morning after a chilly brisk walk. She's patiently awaiting her breakfast but isn't begging.
Just waiting.

See more of these delightful woodcuts of this dog doing funny things when the owner goes out to get him something.

Have a great Sunday. xo

A Giant Sunflower + A Visit from Missy

I picked up Missy in New Vernon this morning and as I was leaving I photographed this single giant sunflower at the house across from hers. Her owner is having cataract surgery tomorrow so I don't know exactly long I will have her. It might be a few days or it might be two weeks. She's no trouble so it's fine with me.

Here she is with fresh bedding in her crate. We are having a rainy day today as predicted but tonight it's supposed to be hard or even torrential. I am going to feed her early and try to have the walks done before it gets bad. Tomorrow is going to be fine and I'm glad about that for me and especially because of my friend's surgery. One of his friends on the Rescue Squad is in charge of the transportation and follow up visits. Living in the same house in a great village for your whole life is a wonderful thing. I'm glad I can help as the dog sitter. xo

Your Dog & A Gardening Poster

Here is another Illustrated Quote I made long ago and posted back in December 2010 so newer followers probably haven't seen it.

The seed planting posture made me laugh. I use this position too when I have on my "good" clothes and don't want to get my knees dirty when weeding. Poster image found on Pinterest.

18th Century Dog Collar Inscription

Too tired to post tonight so here is an old illustrated quote I made back in 2011. I have always been interested in antique dog collars and I love the comical inscription on this 18thC one worn by a dog presented to the Prince of Wales by Alexander Pope. I copied the dog from my Royal Book of Crests and added the text.

I AM HIS HIGHNESS' DOG AT KEW,
PRAY TELL ME, SIR, WHOSE DOG ARE YOU?

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

This adorable photo makes me sleepy just to look at it. I love the dog and the chintz fabric on the sofa and pillow. Here's hoping you have a lazy first weekend of summer. I feel a nap coming on later. xo

Missy is Back. Weekend visitor.

Missy is so calm and polite. I am in the process of mixing her breakfast kibble with hot water in this photo and she's not jumping around, drooling, or whining with excitement. She's just calmly waiting! She gobbled it right down though. She arrived on Friday morning and will probably stay until Monday morning. Have a great weekend and Happy May First. xo

Be Worthy of Your Dog's Devotion

I added this text to a picture of a French Bull Dog long ago and I just found it again in my photos. It's so true too. I hope you don't mind seeing it again. I worked outside dealing with snow for much of the day and will probably sleep like a log tonight. xo

Missy Went Home

Missy went home in the pouring rain yesterday but I still have her crate in my kitchen. Weather permitting, she will be back this weekend. I think the only real downside to having a dog again is the deer tick situation at my house and maybe being forced to go outside in really bad weather. I am happy for now just being a dog sitter for a good dog like Missy.

Are you a picture reader? Did you know I always add the photos from my blog to Pinterest? Take a look here. If you see a photo you like, click on it and it will take you to the blog post. My Pinterest name is contentcottage because they limit the number of characters you can use.

Dog Sitting Weekend with Missy

Missy came over early Friday morning and has been a perfect house guest ever since. She is well behaved and very mellow. She asks for nothing but is grateful for every kindness shown to her. Her crate is in the kitchen with the door open and she is enjoying the new bedding I put inside. She can't decide which dog bed she prefers, Webster's old blue one or the mattress pad and pillow with a flannel pillowcase in her crate. She's a good walker too and doesn't pull on the lead.

Her eyelashes match the color of her fur. I think she's an English Setter. She had a haircut on Tuesday to prepare for her good girl visit. Have a great weekend. xo

Antique Accessories

Simply Beautiful! I would love to see more restrained decor in this home. I love this arrangement against a stark white wall. via

Interior Design Oil Painting

Peter Brown, Moses Back From His Walk, 2020, Oil on board via This oil painting is about a dog coming back from a walk but the architectural detals and interior design seem to be the main theme. Peter Brown is certainly a house-proud artist, isn't he? I love the reflections on the beautiful wide board floor and the fine  woodwork. I hope Moses wiped his paws. Happy Monday. xo
